Does your K-12 client need a little extra cash to modernize its technology?
APC by Schneider Electric created its K-12 Makeover Contest to give cash-strapped K-12 schools a chance at winning $10,000 to update aging technology.
The partner: Terry Lemke of Lemke Consulting
For the last 20 years, Lemke has volunteered with a private K-8 school in rural Campbellsport, Wisconsin—to wire, set up, and maintain their computers.
For Lemke, entering the school into the contest was a no-brainer. The school’s very limited funds had only allowed for replacement of student computers—the 10-year-old teacher and staff computers would have to wait.
The prize: $10,000 for technology updates
Lemke helped the school replace its archaic teacher and staff computers with new Lenovo computers, which included extended warranties and Microsoft Office licenses.
He also renewed their security and threat protection service and recommended several LCD monitors and a 4K DLP projector to enhance the learning experience.
Finally, Lemke suggested an APC Smart-UPS with SmartConnect Battery Backup so that he and other school volunteers can easily—and remotely—monitor UPS status and provide advanced support.
APC by Schneider Electric also decided to donate a new wall-mount server rack—an excellent edge option for schools without a dedicated server room or closet and minimal or no IT staff.
